Ramadan (Spirituality and Science)

Ramadan

Starting from the history, spirituality, and science behind the festival, we are going to explore "RAMADAN" from our knowledge.

Here you'll get to know about the rules and traditions of ramadan along with the spiritual and health benefits of ramadan.

By searching about this divine festival, I had began to think deeply about the spiritual and health benefits of every festivals celebrated in different cultures in this world.

Let's dive right in:

Ramadan is considered the most significant and spiritual Time to connect with Allah and it is one of the holiest Islamic months.

Fasting is taking into account as one of the five pillars of Islam, which enables Muslims to feel closer to God and strengthen their spiritual health and self-discipline.

Muslims around the world will abstain from eating and drinking for a particular time period.

They used to recite the Quran(Holy book of Islam) five times a day. It is believed that our ancestors have strictly followed fasting for even 6 Months.

But due to the time-lapse, the months have been reduced to days.

Ramadan is celebrated to remember the fourth pillar of Islam known as "Swam".

It is also important that all Muslims having excess food should give to others and help them which is known as "Fitrana".

Among many Religious and health benefits of celebrating Ramadan, I consider this particular Charitable payment is good for helping humans in need.

The traditional practice of Islam is to break their fast with dates.

These holy practices have come into being from Prophet Muhammad, as he broke his fast by eating dates.

It is believed that Quran was orally revealed to Prophet Muhammad and finally compiled and written in the form of letters by Ali ibn and Ali Talib after the death of Muhammad.

The end of Ramadan celebration called Eid al-Fitr. Many Muslims attend prayers at the mosque and then enjoy this divine day with their families and friends.

It's also very common for Muslims to exchange gifts with each other.

In Spite of spiritual beliefs, the ultimate aim of Ramadan is to help others and to plant peace in the world.

Being said to be the Spirituality of Ramadan, Now let us see from the side of science how Ramadan is one of the Scientific cum Spiritual Festival.

SCIENCE BEHIND CELEBRATING RAMADAN:

Ramadan

#1 A FRUIT FULL OF ENERGY:

In order to fulfill this need, Dates are consumed. An average serving contains about 75 grams of carbs and 277 grams to provide a packet of energy.

Besides here are some health benefits:

  • Rich in nutrition

  • Helps to regulate bowel movement

  • It is a natural sweetener

  • It may increase brain functionality

  • Reduces Risk of Cancer

#2 BOOSTING OUR BRAIN:

There are many positive effects of following the religious practices of Ramadan. During this particular period, we can attain good mental well-being and spiritual focus.

According to research conducted in the US, it is found that the mental stability attained during Ramadan has caused our body to produce more Brain cells which improve our brain's Thinking capacity and calm our monkey mind.

Other than this, During and after Ramadan, the production of cortisol is decreased.

As we know Cortisol is a stress-inducing hormone that is produced in the adrenal gland during the "fight or flight" situation.

As a result, attaining of stressless life is all we want to live a happy life.

#3 GOOD TIME TO LEAVE BAD HABITS:

During this fasting period, Ramadan is considered as the best time to ditch our bad habits such as smoking, drinking alcohol, overeating, intake of junk foods and sugar, etc...

At first, it will be quite hard, but take it as a challenge and in a prolonged period of time our body starts to accept its absence.

Fasting's ability to cut out bad habits is recommended by the UK's National health service.

#4 APPETITE REDUCTION:

If you are an overeating person then this is for you.

The reduction in the amount of food consumed causes our stomach to shrink, then the byproduct is eating less food to feel full.

This will be a game-changer for many of us.

If you want to get into the habit of healthy eating, then Ramadan is the best time to start.

After the completion of fasting, Our appetite will be lower and we are far likely to overindulge in eating.

#5 DETOXIFYING OUR BODY:

During this divine practice of Ramadan, the Detoxification process in our body will be at its peak.

As we will not eat or drink anything for a time period, Our metabolism increases, and melts the fat, and also burns harmful toxins in our body.

The fasting practiced during Ramadan highly detoxifies our digestive system.

A healthy digestive system leads to a healthy lifestyle. In my opinion, Ramadan is a stepping stone for a Healthy Lifestyle.

#6 SUPER ABSORPTION OF

NUTRIENTS:

As we are not eating for a particular period of time, Our body will be ready to absorb the nutrients completely from the food that we intake.

But on normal days, we'll provide continuous food to our tummy.

Hence it will slightly absorb the nutrients due to the continuous loading of food whereas during the hours of fasting and after a late-night supper, our muscles absorb the nutritional content at a great rate.

CONCLUSION:

According to my perspective, Our Ancestors have stuffed many sciences in the festivals around the world in order to lead mankind in a healthy manner.

So I suggest you follow this divine practice even if your non-Muslims, to attain the maximum health benefits out of it.

But there are many religious superstitions roaming around the world. It's our duty to remove those weeds from our land.
